We analogize human life to a river's clear water, when we should attend its muddy banks. Youth is accretive; middle-age a series of avulsions. At the end, we can hope only to be remeandered in a way useful and pleasing, even if we never - or no longer - connect to any sea.

Lovely. Officially I think we always connect to a sea, but privately of course I have my doubts.

In any case I think your remeanderings are breathtaking, Ms Martin.
